Mae Ysgol Plas Coch wedi ei lleoli ar ochr Gogledd Ddwyreiniol Wrecsam. Cafodd ei hagor yn Ionawr 1993 i gyfarfod â’r tŵf enfawr yn nifer rhieni’r ardal a ddymunai addysg gyfrwng Cymnraeg i’w plant.

Mae lle ar gyfer 240 o ddisgyblion yn yr ysgol gan gynnwys 30 o ddisgyblion meithrin rhan amser. Mae dalgylch yr ysgol yn eang yn ddaearyddol ac yn amrywio’n helaeth o ran nodweddion cymdeithasol ac economaidd.

Y mae Plas Coch yn derbyn plant rhwng 3-11 oed a’r cyfrwng dysgu yw’r iaith Gymraeg. Gyda phob plentyn, y Cymry Cymraeg a’r di Gymraeg dysgir darllen ac ysgrifennu yn Gymraeg hyd at 7 oed. O 7 oed ymlaen dysgir y Saesneg yn gyfochrog â’r Gymraeg.

Does dim rhaid i’r Gymraeg fod yn iaith y cartref i gael dod i Blas Coch, ond derbynnir y plant i’r ysgol at y sail fod y rhieni’n awyddus iddynt ddysgu Cymraeg, felly disgwyliwn bob cefnogaeth gan y rhieni yn y broses yma.

Plas Coch school is situated to the North East of the town of Wrexham. The school was opened in January 1993 to meet the huge increase in the number of parents in the area desiring Welsh medium education for their children.

The school has the capacity for 240 pupils which includes 30 nursery pupils who attend the school part time. The school’s catchment area is large geographically and varies considerably in its social and economic characteristics.

Plas Coch school admits children between the ages of 3-11 and the medium of instruction is the Welsh language. All children are taught to read and write in Welsh until they are 7, then English is taught side by side with the Welsh.

Welsh does not have to be spoken at home for children to come to Plas Coch but they are admitted on the grounds that the parents wish them to learn Welsh. Because of this we expect full co-operation from the parents in the process of learning Welsh.
